Meet The Artist: Paola Falconi – Art in Harmony with Material and Nature

Aquarium Sardinia – Torre Delle Stelle | Friday, August 1, 2025

On Friday, August 1st, 2025, Aquarium Sardinia hosted the fourth edition of Meet The Artist at AQ Boutique, located in the heart of Torre Delle Stelle. This recurring event offers a space for dialogue between the public and the artists behind the unique pieces displayed in the boutique, highlighting not just the artworks, but the stories, inspirations, and craftsmanship behind them.

The guest of this edition was Paola Falconi, a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans illustration, sculpture, design, and artisan objects. The live conversation was moderated by Matteo Angioni, manager of the boutique and curator of the format, who guided the audience through Paola’s creative world and her deep-rooted connection to nature.

Paola shared her personal journey: after initially pursuing law, she made a bold decision to leave university and fully embrace the arts. She began studying painting and sculpture, developing her own artistic voice across various media. Today, her practice includes everything from hand-carved marble sculptures to printed textiles and illustrated design objects.

A particularly powerful theme of the evening was her approach to using marble scraps. Paola collects discarded pieces of marble from local workshops and transforms them into sculptural works that honor the natural, irregular shapes of the stone. “There’s no such thing as waste”, she said. “Each piece of marble has potential. I let its form guide the sculpture.”

She also introduced her more playful side, featuring screen-printed illustrations and towels, designed to be both functional and expressive. These pieces offer a lighter, intimate look into her imagination, yet remain rooted in her signature poetic minimalism.

The evening ended with an informal aperitif, where guests engaged directly with the artist, asking questions and discovering the deeper meanings behind her creations. Once again, Meet The Artist proved to be an enriching experience—fostering meaningful connections between art, territory, and community.
