Meet the Artist: Caterina Quartana – Textiles, storytelling, and place at Torre Delle Stelle
Meet the Artist: Caterina Quartana – Textiles, storytelling, and place at Torre Delle Stelle
On Friday, July 25, Aquarium Sardinia in Torre Delle Stelle hosted a new edition of Meet the Artist, the weekly event created to spotlight the stories, skills, and visions of the artisans, artists, and designers featured in the AQ Boutique.
This week’s guest was Caterina Quartana, a textile artist who shared her journey in an open conversation with Matteo Angioni, manager of the boutique by Aquarium and curator of the series. At the core of the dialogue was the importance of coherence in her creative path:
“Staying true to my original vision despite changes and challenges is what I’m most proud of,” Caterina said.
Her story began in fabric shops across Sardinia, continued with textile design studies in Florence, and matured into the founding of her atelier in 2018, carrying forward the legacy of her parents’ work from the 1980s. The loom is her natural extension, and her patterns are born from a mix of cultural influence, imagination, and attention to the territory.

Torre Delle Stelle is not just the backdrop of the event, it’s an essential part of Caterina’s creative world. Its natural light, sea tones, and quiet atmosphere deeply influence her work.
“Natural light draws the colors and vibrations of the fabric,” she explained, emphasizing her deep connection to place.
Her collections range from home décor to fashion accessories: wearable narratives that carry cultural meaning and individual identity. Each piece is handmade with care, crafted without shortcuts.
Caterina also touched on her collaborations with other artists, which she considers essential to her development. These creative exchanges fuel her imagination and open up new possibilities. Looking ahead, her dream is clear:
“To see my brand featured in AD and design magazines, while staying true to the ethics that define my work.”
The audience response confirmed the strength of Meet the Artist—a format that Aquarium Sardinia dedicates to building bridges between craft, creativity, and community. Week after week, the series reinforces Torre Delle Stelle as a hub for culture and independent design in South Sardinia.

Meet the Artist: A Conversation with Giorgia Soutache and the Value of Contemporary Craftsmanship
Meet the Artist: A Conversation with Giorgia Soutache and the Value of Contemporary Craftsmanship
Every Friday at Aquarium Sardinia in Torre Delle Stelle, Meet the Artist comes to life. This event was created to share the stories and craftsmanship behind the works featured in our AQ Boutique. It is not just an exhibition, but an opportunity for genuine dialogue between creators and visitors, aimed at highlighting the value of handmade creations and personal vision.
On July 18th, our guest was Giorgia Soutache, an artisan who shared her creative path and the meaning behind her work in a live interview conducted by Matteo Angioni, manager of the boutique by Aquarium. Giorgia describes herself first and foremost as a craftswoman, emphasizing how her passion for working with her hands is the heart of her practice. Her inspiration often comes from colors. Each creation begins with a color combination that guides her in selecting materials and shaping forms.
A hallmark of her style is the use of soutache, a traditional technique that Giorgia has reinterpreted in a unique way. Unlike many artisans, she does not work with assembled parts but uses a single continuous thread, shaping it into symmetrical and geometric forms. This method requires great precision and patience, making every piece unique. Giorgia discovered soutache by chance in Genoa after a flood led her to rescue old haberdashery stock. Since then, the soutache cord has been at the center of her creative exploration.

Giorgia does not follow any particular models. Her only reference points are symmetry and harmony. She loves imagining the women who will wear her pieces, designing objects that carry meaning and evoke a sense of surprise. Her clients appreciate the personality of her creations, their originality, and the unexpected details that make each piece special.
For Giorgia, Torre Delle Stelle is the perfect place to create and find inspiration. The light, tranquility, and authentic atmosphere of the village fuel her creativity. She sees Aquarium Boutique as a true point of reference, a place that values craftsmanship and offers a curated and welcoming environment where every piece finds its place.
The conversation with Giorgia Soutache perfectly captured the spirit of Meet the Artist. It is about giving voice to those who work with passion, fostering connections between creativity and community, and enriching Torre Delle Stelle with a series of events that strengthen the bond between craftsmanship, culture, and the local area.

Meet the Artist: A Conversation with Tatiana Del Giovane and the Craft of NOVIETATI
Meet the Artist: A Conversation with Tatiana Del Giovane and the Craft of NOVIETATI
Every Friday, Aquarium Sardinia in Torre Delle Stelle hosts Meet the Artist, a special event created to spotlight the stories and personalities behind the handcrafted pieces, artworks, and design objects featured in our AQ Boutique. More than just a showcase, the boutique is a space where creators and visitors meet, where each object becomes a bridge between craftsmanship and personal storytelling.
On July 11th, our guest was Tatiana Del Giovane, co-founder of NOVIETATI, who shared her vision, her creative journey, and what truly defines her work. Her story began in 2002 with a chance encounter with Novella in Auckland, a meeting that sparked a long-standing friendship shaped by the world of sailing, family life, and a shared experience of living and traveling across different cities. From Valencia to San Diego, Auckland to San Francisco, Palermo to Rimini, each place left a mark on her creative vision, inspiring her with its people, cultures, materials, and stories.
In 2012, those experiences evolved into NOVIETATI, a project that brings together independent thinking, craftsmanship, and a desire for creative freedom. The brand stands out for its bold approach to design, crafting objects that tell a story while challenging conventional rules.

During the event, Tatiana spoke candidly about how her time in New Zealand became a turning point in shaping her artistic inspiration and how travel has shaped her approach to creativity. She also reflected on the women who have inspired her throughout her personal and professional journey: strong, visionary figures who encouraged her to trust her voice and embrace creative freedom.
Tatiana shared the story of how her brand was born, the result of a shared vision, a passion for form and materials, and a desire to create something that feels both radical and deeply personal. Today, NOVIETATI continues to thrive, supported by her family, who have always believed in her talent and stood by her through moments of change and growth.
What continues to surprise her is the relationship she builds with her clients, people from around the world who come back to her not for traditional luxury but for pieces they find more playful, more personal, and more authentic than diamonds or pearls. Every item she creates is entirely handmade, unique, and impossible to reproduce, each carrying a story and a distinct sense of identity.
Tatiana’s presence at Meet the Artist captured the spirit of the initiative: creating a space for meaningful exchange between artists, artisans, and the public. The works showcased in the AQ Boutique are not merely items for sale but the result of personal journeys, creative choices, and distinctive visions.
In this way, Aquarium Sardinia is not just a destination but a hub for those seeking authentic stories, creativity, and real connections with the people and culture of Torre Delle Stelle.
